Something to rest on

Using some second hand material I bought I have had a little project over the past few months (it's all about getting the time!). Here's the process:

I 've now embroided it with Rest and Dream because that's what we should all take more time to do and this pillow is the perfect place to put your head to do those things.

Now the work's over....a cup of tea....another highly rated activity along with resting and dreaming.

A belated report on the current theatre project

I've been busy with all sorts of things this August. One of the projects was starting university, the other is working for a theatre production at Os, Hordaland. I promissed to give you some details, and here they are:

It's actually a piece on death with dance, song and speeches. The dancing is hypnotic and the singing beautiful. Come if you can!

Washed in colours

It's been a long time...well I have been on holiday and here are the pictures to prove it. Take some sea,
pizza, blurry sunsets and some vespas and what do you get? Well Italy of course! But the best memory is collecting things from the beach...washed in tiles, all nicely rounded by the ocean.

But what to do with the tiles now...? Well all suggestions are welcome...

Oh and here's that lovely sunset...I miss warm weather already!

And tomorrow..an update on work which is now taking the form of theatre...a piece about death to be precise...not as grim as it sounds though...I promise.

Travel + Teapots = ♥

It's been a bit luxurious lately, travelling here there and everywhere. We've recently been to Copenhagen, to Barcelona and tomorrow to Italy!
Copenhagen was great! I purchased this rather lovely teapot!

To be honest it was difficult not to buy up everything I saw.
Barcelona was superbly sunny too, and much time was spent on the beach sweating, swimming, hearing the cries of beach sellers 'Cerveza, cola, agua, beeee-eer!'. Then a lot of standing up, looking around with hands on hips and acting like a meerkat, which is what everyone else seemed to be doing.
But while in Copenhagen we stayed at Gunvør and her family's house. It was great to stay with them and they even lent us bikes. Anyway, a thank-card was in order, so the stamps came out and this was what was produced. Takk Gunvør !

Purple rain

Well, spring is here! But here in Bergen April showers are almost all year round and inspired by this I have made a dedication to RAIN. Or my own interpretaion of rain...PURPLE RAIN. (the real stuff, not the Prince song)

I got the idea when I came by this cloud at Meet me at Mike's.  I made my own version and rummaged through all the material I had. I cut out a cloud from this material I bought in India.

I made the rain drops from fabric samples given to me by a friend.

I stuffed the cloud with dreams of sunny days and some polyester stuff.
I joined it all together with some ribbon and...voilà

 ...an instant rainy day brightened.

Elephant ears.

My love of buttons and a new skirt got me thinking about some new earrings....

My new skirt felt a bit African...so an elephant seemed perfect.

I've made some button earrings before (they are super easy to do!) and require almost no equipment. You need, of course, a couple of buttons and some studded earring backs. You'll also need some strong glue for sticking the stuff together and a knife to chop off the loop hole at the back if there is one.

Make sure you leave them a good few hours before you put them on...you don't want to have permenant earrings!
And ...Ta Da! A new pair of earrings in one afternoon and a rainy day passed productively.

All things orange.

There seems to be an orange them in my life at the moment. First there were the lanterns to welcome in spring:

Then there was the Carrot and Corriander soup to warm up after the changeable weather.

And lastly there was the Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing. it was my first Carrot cake and was very yummy, so there will be more of those to come!

Dreamy..

Just realised it's all becoming very dream related here...probably because I should be in bed.
Here's a dream I had anyway:
A chair I dreamt about and it's soundtrack...
Good night!

Button it beautiful!

Making objects feel special.

On a Sunday, sorting out some buttons...

Looking through to see what I could make....

Decided to use them as magnets to accessorize the fridge...

And make it look more colourful and feel more special...

Glorious Green

I made some cupcakes on the theme of green.

Yummy and simple to make:
2 eggs
100g flour with a tsp of baking powder
100g softened butter
100g sugar
3 drops of vanilla

Mix the butter and sugar until smooth, add an egg and then half the flour and mix, do the same with the rest of the ingredients. Fill some muffin cases and bake for 15 mins at 180 degrees

When cooled add some butter icing. mmmm

Hand wrapped Christmas

I used some cheap wrapping paper and used my homemade stamp to add gold birds

And added some purple ribbon

I also made some gift cards with the same stamp and some blue ink.
I bought the stamp making kit from Felt cafe Japan

Late autumn...It's been a long time

Just some random pictures of the view through our window at the end of November.
